About Us
After-School All-Stars is one of the country’s largest nonprofit organizations working to close the opportunity gap for low-income youth. Our mission is to provide year-round comprehensive programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and life. Founded in 1995, our chapter reaches more than 1,900 students at 12 sites across New York City.
The Power of Mentorship
Our community school program at PS 328 has transformed early literacy through an innovative partnership with Read Alliance. By pairing local high school tutors with K-2 students under certified teacher supervision, the program bridges generations of learners and creates a dynamic learning environment that benefits both age groups.
Staff Spotlight:
Meet Ghiles Jackson
Our very own Ghiles Jackson (Program Director) has been named one of only 15 Afterschool Alliance Ambassadors—a prestigious role that will allow him to advocate for increased support and funding for programs at the national level. As an ambassador, Ghiles will collaborate closely with other national youth-focused organizations. We celebrated Ghiles and other ASAS staff for their accomplishments in a recent post.
