Recently, members of ASAS NJ’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and other scholars traveled to New Jersey’s State Capitol in Trenton to meet with lawmakers and advocate for after-school programs. These passionate scholars shared their personal experiences about the positive impact of ASAS programs, emphasizing the need for continued funding and support for youth initiatives.
This experience not only empowered our YAB members but also gave them a real-world opportunity to practice leadership, public speaking, and advocacy. Through this initiative, our scholars learned how to influence policy, make meaningful change, and amplify the voices of youth in their communities. We’re proud of our YAB members’ advocacy efforts and their commitment to being leaders for their peers.
