Las Vegas students visit Air Force base

Aiming High

STEM exploration comes alive for our students through dynamic classes and immersive field trips that connect them directly to real-world careers. In 2024, our students visited Nellis Air Force Base, where they experienced firsthand the diverse opportunities STEM can offer. More than ten interactive stations around the base showcased Air Force careers, including pilots sharing insights beside their fighter jets, ground crew demonstrating advanced maintenance technology, and EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) technicians explaining bomb-disposal methods.

Students especially enjoyed meeting base firefighters and EMTs and seeing an innovative robotic dog used for security patrols—something that directly links to their robotics classes at ASAS. The tour concluded by illustrating how military-acquired STEM skills apply seamlessly to civilian careers, significantly broadening students’ horizons.
